Champions of the world. top of the podium. gold medalists. the triple espresso show. whatever you want to call it… the united states women’s national team is once again on top, and I think we can all agree, it is all thanks to emma hayes.
if you’ve been a follower of the team for a while, you know the style of play has shifted from what the team was previously known for in recent years across multiple major tournaments. to put it nicely, the girlies just seemed to lack the joy. but throughout this olympic cycle, i have personally seen nothing but smiles, confidence and passion on the faces and hearts of our players.
upon extensive bias opinion cultivation on my own account, i would like to give a huge shoutout to the uswnt pillar noami girma. as much credit is due to our attacking trio (Mal, Trinity, & Sophia smith) for scoring big time bangers, another way to win games is to keep them from going into the back of your own net. our defensive line, in cohesion with brick wall alyssa naeher & fearless leader girma, is what won uS this gold. this is me giving you your flowers noami… so well deserved!!!
watching the team win each game despite outside speculation prior to the tournament’s start brings me nothing but happiness as a supporter. I think this is once again another example of, “if you poke the bear hard enough… she will bite back.” andddd bite back they did.
our thrilling final against brazil was scrappy, intense and heartwarming all at the same time. the usa were victorious at the final whistle tallying a 1-0 win over brazil and football icon marta in her last international match. if there is one thing we are gonna do… it’s keep everyone on their toes til the final minutes of a do-or-die situation. but, we can’t complain, because the gals are bringing home gold.
all i have left to say is….
someone put alyssa naeher on the dollar bill.
in naomi girma we trust.
&&& it had to be mal. 😮💨
