uswnt 2024 olympic roster: hayes isn’t the only new kid on the block…
the emma hayes era has officially begun. Just days after her first camp with the uswnt earlier this month, hayes has formally announced the 2024 paris olympic squad of 18 players that will represent the usa on the pitch this summer. only eight of which have any prior olympic experience. the official roster can be found here.
for all the og uswnt fans… do. not. panic. as wild as it is not seeing the likes of alex morgan and nwsl scoring superstar lynn williams listed, the team does have tons of attacking heat. mal swanson, sophia smith, and trinity rodman are all set to take the stage as the nation’s attacking line this july… but will this trio be enough to get the job done?
in addition to our star-studded forwards, we are also pretty heavily stacked in our defensive third. naomi girma will of course hold our line steady with her seemingly overly calm style of play that we have all come to not only respect but love. i am also looking forward to watching recent brace earner tierna davidson and gotham midfielder emily sonnet hold down the fort.
Welcome to the 'revolutionary' new era where hayes’ strategy is the currency, and nothing short of gold is the national anthem. As we usher in this new uswnt identity, Forget history; they’re rewriting what it means to be a champion. Buckle up, folks, for a journey into a future where podium performances are reliant on new faces, new strategy and the absence of the icons that have historically driven our national team to victory. could it be everything we never knew we needed?
